Garmin Varia RVR315 Rearview Radar

The Garmin Varia RVR315 is a compact rearview bike radar designed to help cyclists stay aware of vehicles approaching from behind.

The radar detects approaching vehicles from up to 140 meters (153 yards) away and sends visual and audible alerts to compatible Garmin devices or a smartphone using the Garmin Varia app.

With ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity, up to 7 hours of battery life and a compact seatpost-mounted design, the RVR315 provides rear traffic awareness without an integrated taillight.

Rearview Radar with 140m Detection Range

The Varia RVR315 rearview radar detects vehicles approaching from behind from up to 140 meters away.

Its 40-degree radar beam provides coverage through typical bends in the road, while the system can detect up to eight approaching vehicles at the same time.

When paired with a compatible device, riders receive alerts as vehicles approach from behind.

Garmin Edge & Varia App Compatibility

The Garmin RVR315 can pair with compatible Garmin Edge bike computers using ANT+ connectivity.

Bluetooth also allows the radar to connect with compatible smartphones using the Garmin Varia app, providing visual, audible and vibration alerts when traffic approaches.

The radar can also integrate with selected third-party cycling apps that support Varia radar data.

Up to 7 Hours Battery Life

The Garmin Varia RVR315 uses a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 7 hours of battery life in active mode.

Its compact design makes it easy to mount vertically to the seatpost without adding unnecessary bulk to the bike.

Compact & Weather-Resistant Design

At approximately 51g, the RVR315 is a lightweight option for riders who want Garmin's rearview radar functionality without an integrated rear light.

The device has an IPX7 water rating, providing protection for riding in wet conditions.

RVR315 vs. RTL515

The Varia RVR315 is a radar-only device, while the Garmin Varia RTL515 combines rearview radar technology with an integrated taillight.

The RVR315 is therefore suited to riders who already use a separate rear light or prefer to choose their own lighting setup while still benefiting from Garmin's rear traffic detection.
